Dish Selects Dell for 5G Network Infrastructure

On Friday, Dish Network and Dell Technologies signed into a strategic partnership to advance its Open RAN-based 5G network in the U.S.

Now the Dell Technologies will offer Dish with network and edge-compute infrastructure.

The deal will include creating private 5G wireless network solutions, software-defined wide-area networks, and multi-access edge cloud platforms

Under this agreement, both the partners will develop technology for Open RAN, SmartNICs, emerging micro-edge colocation, operational automation, and other research and development. I addition to this, the partnership will covers the multi-access edge computing (MEC) solutions for enterprise and small business.

The Dish will install Dell’s EMC PowerEdge XR11 rug-filtered servers which as built for the severe condition at cell tower places and in centralized RAN locations

The Dish will also be using Dell EMC PowerEdge R740 and R750 servers to support virtualization and demanding cloud-native workloads

To promote Dish’s 5G services in numerous professional networks, both the companies have decided to partner up with the marketing activities including the Dell 5G-enabled laptops with Dish connectivity options

“By collaborating with Dell Technologies, we will have the hardware and software infrastructure needed to harness the power and potential of 5G. Dell’s open ecosystem approach will help us scale our RAN network with agility, speed, and consistency, bringing about new business opportunities for both enterprise customers and consumers, completing our cloud strategy,” said Marc Rouanne, Dish chief network officer.

This is Dish’s second major 5G Network infrastructure partnership in the past two months. In April, Dish has signed the Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its cloud provider.
