Amazon has announced that its cashier-less “Just Walk Out” technology is coming to a full-size grocery store for the first time.
The newly launched Amazon Fresh store is 25,000 square foot larger than the Amazon Go Grocery Store that opened last year, which was 10,400 square foot
The new Amazon store will be fourteen fresh locations in the US, which is all set to open on June 17th in Bellevue, Washington
Amazon has opened a 35,000 square foot Fresh Store last year using its Dash Carts technology. But there was speculation that Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology be unfit for larger stores.
However, Amazon has sustained the just walk-out technology, which utilizes multiple overhead cameras and the cohesive pressure-sensitive shelves inevitably sensing the items picked out by the shoppers, and still determined of this technology in stores of any size.
Customers can still find the traditional checkout counters at the new store in Bellevue, Washington as Amazon has given checkout options to the customers in the new store.
If the customers opt for the new “Just Walk Out” checkout option then they can enter the Fresh store by scanning a QR code which is available in the Amazon app. Then the customers have to inset a linked Credit or Debit card or even then can scan their palm.
After leaving the Fresh Store, the customers will be automatically charged the items in their virtual store and the customers will get a digital receipt
Apart from its own stores, Amazon also plans to provide “Just Walk Out” technology to third party retailers also
